History files reveal the Montclair district was one of several in Oakland growing rapidly during the 1920s with the proliferation of automobiles, making distant real estate developments easier to reach. A local wealthy philanthropist named Chauncey W. Gibson contributed the funds to build a branch in the newly emerging residential area in the hills east of Piedmont — which real estate agents named “Montclair.” There is no architect associated with the quaint looking library, which opened its doors in March 1930, but its Mother Goose-like character had a similar feel to the Hansel and Gretel looking fire station located nearby on Moraga Avenue which was completed in 1927.

Maybe I’m just getting old and uncrabby, but I’m feeling more sympathy for party-throwers these days, not less, We humans need to gather, Institutions don’t pull us in as they used to, It takes work to host, and guests are less well-versed than ever in the etiquette of being a guest, If you don’t want the proffered food, then, fine, but I think we’d all do well to resist biting the hand, DEAR CAROLYN: This may be ballet flats for work an odd question but I am wondering if you have any tips for how to wind up a conversation, I struggle, and tend to restate what was already said or say concluding-sounding things repeatedly, I think it is because I feel a bit socially awkward, But, I can tell my conversation companion is trying to figure out how to put an end to it, too..
The district released a statement this week on its website, signed by the superintendent and board members, stating that some information made public was inaccurate. They did not specify what was incorrect, or attempt to correct it. “It is also important to know that while the District strives for transparency, we are, at times prevented from communicating all of the facts because of federal laws that protect student privacy,” the statement said. The district confirmed an incident occurred, and that school officials worked with Danville police. The teen girl was arrested on suspicion of invasion of privacy. Her case is now in the hands of the Contra Costa County Juvenile Probation Court, as is standard protocol in juvenile misdemeanor cases, said Danville police spokesman Geoff Gillette.
