BottleRock apparently takes its 10 p.m, curfew quite seriously, In 2014, as The Cure cranked up their 34th song of the evening (“Why Can’t I Be You?”), the band suddenly found its power had been cut by the festival crew, which was apparently anxious about its tenuous relationship with the city of Napa, According to the Setlist.fm, which calls itself The Setlist Wiki, the shutdown went down like this: “(Plug pulled, Sound started to fade…mic first completely, then ballet shoes leather or canvas instruments)”..

For Los Angeles bass master and arranger/composer John Clayton and his younger brother Jeff Clayton, a reed expert with a searing tone on alto saxophone, the quintet they’ve co-led for more than three decades “was an almost accidental group,” says the bassist, 61. “My brother and I never consciously set out to create a band. It just happened.”. With the younger Clayton favoring small group settings and John Clayton seeking a vehicle for his Count Basie-inspired composing and arranging, they reached an amenable compromise by also creating the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, a celebrated big band they co-lead with drummer Jeff Hamilton.
