When I arrived on the stone plaza steps in the morning, I asked a waiter what time the music would start playing. He just looked at me quizzically, as if maybe I were dull-witted. “All the time,” he said. And, sure enough, it started a few minutes later and didn’t stop until after midnight. You don’t need to go to the plaza to hear music, though. It pours out of every tavern and restaurant as you walk the cobblestone streets of the old town, like Bourbon Street in New Orleans. While we were in Trinidad, staying in an old mansion, my friends took a cab every day to Playa Ancon, one of the beautiful Caribbean beaches only a few miles out of town. I didn’t go, because I just wanted to gorge on music, music and more music all day long. It didn’t quench my thirst. I still need more.
One of the worst for her parents came when their family dog had to be put to sleep, Bailey was really thought of as Pines’ dog, though the whole family adopted him, When he stopped running up to the treat jar after the morning walk, they knew he was getting sick, “It was like giving up another tiny dancer, print, printable, sign, poster, nursery decor, nursery wall art, ballet shoes, ballerina, girls room, wall art, gir link to our child,” Pines’ mother Nancye Fritz said, Pines, who also went by the name Riley to friends and family in Connecticut, had moved from Indiana to Oakland in September, just three months before the fire..
Festivalgoers will have ample opportunity to experience all things Greek. The more than 50 booths in the festival include something for everyone from food, wine tasting and artisanal products for the shoppers. Food holds a special place in Greek culture. “There is always food,” Phillips said. There are food booths throughout the festival, plus a dining room with more traditional food and a whole room devoted to sweets. Phillips said that her first stop will be to get a gyros (it’s pronounced yee-ro), a pita filled with meat and vegetables, drizzled with tzatziki, a yogurt and cucumber sauce accented with lemon and spices.
