She was on the San Mateo County Beach Committee. In 1961 she was appointed to the Park, Beaches and Recreation Commission where she served until 1974. A huge advocate of sports, during her tenure with the PB&R Commission, she pushed hard to make sure kids had a place to play sports and a number of sports fields were developed at elementary schools. She also put her voice behind the opening of local parks.
